Greetings, Geekway Fans! We are VERY excited to announce that Patron tickets will go on sale at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 18. Regular Geekway tickets will go on sale in early January. You do not need a Patron badge to get into Geekway – Patron badges are just for those who want to spend a little more and have a couple of extra perks (most notably, early access to the Embassy Suites hotel room block).

We have two different levels of Patron tickets available this year, so pay attention!

Hotel Patron – $125 (150 total are available)

  • A four-day pass to Geekway 2019
  • A Patron challenge coin
  • Exclusive Patron Swag (Folding Dice Tray and a Game Journal)
  • Access to the Patron-only mixer at Geekway
  • Early access to book one room at the Embassy Suites (Geekway’s connected hotel)

Non-Hotel Patron – $110 (150 total are available)

  • A four-day pass to Geekway 2019
  • A Patron challenge coin
  • Exclusive Patron Swag (Folding Dice Tray and a Game Journal)
  • Access to the Patron-only mixer at Geekway

Only Hotel Patrons will have access to the hotel block at Embassy Suites until the block opens up to the general Geekway public .

Also, note that you can pre-order t-shirts when you purchase your Patron Badges as well. Art for the shirt is being finalized, but this is a close match to how it will look:

Why are there changes this year? One of the comments we received on our survey this year was that groups of people would all like to be patrons, but only one person needs access to the hotel room. This allows a couple (for instance) to purchase one Hotel Patron ticket and both can stay in the hotel room, but the other person in the couple still gets the special swag and gets entry to the Patron event.

We have Patrons in general for two reasons:

  1. Believe it or not, some Geekway attendees have asked for ways to give a little more so that we are able to keep making Geekway cool. We appreciate this! And, we are giving a few benefits as a way to say thanks.
  2. There just aren’t enough hotel rooms in the Embassy Suites for everyone. We wish we could fix this, but until the Convention Center builds a new hotel, we will have to continue to find ways to ration the rooms available. This is the best way we can think of.

Please note – we expect Patron tickets at both levels to sell out almost instantly. None of us are thrilled about this, but there isn’t much we can do about it. You can improve your chances to get one a bit, if you are on your computer and ready to click the purchase button right at 10 AM. If the site shows they are sold out, try again. Sometimes a badge is added to a cart and then the cart is abandoned. When the system times the cart out (a few minutes later), the badge will show as available again. Last year, we had reports of people grabbing a badge up to twenty minutes after the site listed them as completely sold out.

If you do not get a Patron badge, all is not lost. There will be plenty of regular Geekway tickets available when regular sales open in January. As for the hotel, rooms will sporadically open up all the way up until Geekway itself as plans change and people drop their reservations. And, there are several hotels very near the convention center (see our website for more info).

We are selling a total of 3000 badges this year, and we believe that Geekway might sell out – but we do not expect it to happen quickly. If you want to go to Geekway, you should have ample opportunity to grab a badge.

All right, that’s it for now. Keep your eyes peeled on September 18, and get that F5 key all warmed up. Good luck!
